Google pages has been around for a while. However, I still find people (mostly local small business owners) who are looking for web designers to build them a simple web page. All they want is web presence, they want to be online. That is where google pages comes in.

Interface is simple.
Just point and click.
Fill in content.
Post pictures.
Choose layout and colors.
Click publish and you are on the web!
Done.
One drawback is that you can’t use your own domain name. Like http://www.mysitename.com. Your url will be something like http://mysitename.googlepages.com.
If you haven’t already done so, check out Mint.com.
Amazon’s Kindle I so want one :)
Shopify.com looks like the easiest and fastest way to set up online shop.
Lots of people are raving about shopify’s ease of use.
I agree. So when I ran into Shopify Consulting I thought it was pretty funny.
Looks like even the easiest way to set up online shop may require help from professionals.
It looks like shopify still needs to do some work on making the process of opening online shop even esier.

If you have a blog and enabled comments there is a high probability that you get spam.
I use to get close to 10 spam comments a day. It sucked. So I disabled comments.
Then I asked around and was refered to Akismet . (thanks Noah )
I installed Akismet on this blog a week ago and re-enabled comments.
Guess what? No spam. None!
Here it is in action, so far caught 47 spam comments:
Akismet is a great product.
I wish they gave a better name for it.
Akismet, stands for Automattic Kismet, which makes total sense.
However, I imagine its hard for people to memorize it and pass it on to others.
Take myself for instance. Yesterday, I was having lunch with a friend and told him about it.
Me:”Yeah, its awesome! Catches all the spam.”
Friend: “Yeah? Whats it called?”
Me:”I think its Askimet.”
Well I was close, but still you get the point.
Now all I need is a phone to take notes.
If I need to write myself a reminder and I don’t have pen and paper handy, I call Jott.com
Here is how it works:
1. Go to Jott.com and register
2. Call their 800 number
3. Leave yourself a message
4. Jott records message
5. Creates a transcript of your message
6. Emails you
7. You can also read or listen to all your messages when you login to Jott.com
Its easy. I have Jott 800 number on my speed dial and it takes seconds to start recording a message.
Every time I use 411 to find out a phone number my cell phone provider charges me $1.49 plus airtime.
Now I can get this service for FREE! Thanks Google!
To try this service, just dial 1-800-GOOG-411 (1-800-466-4411) from any phone.
For more info go to their google voice local search page.
I tried it, it was quick and simple. I wanted a phone number of a local auto repair shop. Just said “Milwaukee Wisconsin” -> “Checker Auto Parts”. They found it and transfered me to the store.
Thanks Mike
” Vimeo is different from other video sharing sites because its not about uploading TV shows. Its about people sharing clips that they make themselves.”
Hmm…so what is stopping me from uploading my video clips to google video or youtube?
I’m not sure if Vimeo’s business model will work, however, Vimeo creators sure do post some entertaining content.
Here they are at a meeting busting on their superiors:
Here is a tour of their office. Looks like a cool place to work at:
P.S.
Their embed code includes links to Vimeo meetings and Vimeo. Instead of putting links on their screen like YouTube or IFilm, they put them separately, so you can see more of your video. Nice touch.
